Gilgit city is capital of Gilgit-Baltistan.Gilgit city is main educational center of G-B.The city is famous for Tourism and for KKH (Karakoram Highway), which connects it to Islamabad Pakistan.In the north it is connected to Karimabad Hunza and Sust and to the Chinese cities to of Tashkurgan, Upal and Kashgar in Xinjiang.Karakoram Highway takes nearly 14 to 24 hours, whereas the air travel takes 55 to 60 minutes.
