Deosai Plains is located in Astore district Gilgit-Baltistan Pakistan. Deosai Plateau is worlds second highest Plateau after Chang Tang in Tibet. In local language Deosai is called Byarsa meaning 'Summer place'. The plateau is located at the boundary of the Karakorum and the western Himalayas.
Deosai national park is 4114 metres above the sea level. The park covers an area of 3000 sq km. During spring season it is covered by amazing wildflowers and a wide variety of butterflies.

Deosai lake called Sheosar lake in local language is in the park. The hight of this lake is 4142 meters one of the highest lakes in the world. It is located near the chilim valley on the Deosai plains. This park was established in 1993. The main purpose of establishment of this park was to protect Himalayan Brown Bear and other wild animals of this park. The park is home land of Brown bear, Red fox, Golden Eagle, Lammergeier, Griffon Vulture, Laggar Falcon, Peregnine Falcon, Kestrel, Sparrowhawk and Snowcock.
